Vita e carriera

Gli inizi

Rimasto orfano a soli 10 anni, si allontana dal suo villaggio rurale per dirigersi verso la capitale Dakar, dove rimane per ben 40 anni. Qui viene accolto da una comunità di pescatori tra i cantieri della zona industriale del porto di Bel-Air. Rimasto senza una famiglia, vive in un piccolo monolocale appena sufficiente per contenere la sua amaca.

Formazione

Privo di formazione artistica, afferma che la sua mano sia guidata dal santo Sheikh Amadu Bamba, il santo sufi cardine della via Mouride. La ricchezza della sua vita sta infatti nella religione, e i murales da lui dipinti hanno spesso un compito devozionale.
