Anthony Cumia’s net worth, biography, fact, career, awards and life story
Anthony Cumia net worth and salary: Anthony Cumia is a New York-born radio personality who has a net worth of $5 million dollars. Anthony Cumia is probably most famous for formerly being one half of the “Opie and Anthony Show”, a popular talk radio show that aired from 1995 to 2014.
Anthony and Gregg “Opie” Hughes met in the early 90s after Anthony submitted a parody song to Opie’s nighttime radio show. Over the years, the show was dogged by controversy and was forced off the air numerous times. At one point the duo was fired from their gig at a Boston radio station after they pulled a prank which claimed the city’s mayor died in a car accident.
Interestingly, the controversy led to an even bigger opportunity at WNEW in New York City. This gig ended after the show organized a contest that encouraged listeners to perform sex acts in public places. One couple ended up having sex in St. Patrick’s cathedral.
At the time of their firing, Opie and Anthony were each earning $5 million per year as part of a three-year $30 million contract. They technically weren’t fired, their show was canceled and CBS continued to pay them the remainder of their contract. After a two-year absence, the show returned to the airwaves in 2006 on XM Radio.
On July 3, 2014, Anthony Cumia was fired by Sirius after he sent a series of tweets which were deemed offensive and racist. Although in Cumia’s defense, he only unleashed the angry tweets after a woman of color allegedly attacked him in New York City. After being fired, Anthony launched his own self-produced show that he records and films from his house and from a studio in Manhattan. In December 2015, Cumia was arrested for allegedly physically abusing his girlfriend. Anthony is a vocal proponent of gun rights and various other conservative values. In 2017, Artie Lange joined Cumia as a co-host on a newly branded “AA Show”. That show did not lost long after Artie’s continued run ins with the law. Today he co-hosts “The Anthony Cumia Show” with Dave Landau.
Real Estate: In 2006 Anthony paid $2.9 million for a home in Roslyn Heights, New York. He build a studio in the residence and proceeded to broadcast from home until he moved to a studio in New York City. He reportedly is moving to Florida.
