Lucien Matte (født 1907 i Quebec i Canada, død 1975) var en kanadisk katolsk prest tilhørende jesuittordenen, mest kjent for å ha reorganisert det etiopiske skolesystem.

Matte ble utdannet University of Montreal og Laval der han tok grader i filosofi, naturvitenskaper, teologi og pedagogikk. Han trådte inn i jesuittordenen i 1930 og ble presteviet i 1938.

I 1945 ble han bedt av keiseren av Etiopia, Haile Selassie, og å reorganisere landets skolesystem. Pater Matte reorganiserte systemet fra folkeskolenivå av og oppover, grunnla University College of Addis Ababa i 1954 og ble i 1961 rektor for det samme universitetet som da hadde fått navnet Haile Selassie-universitetet.

Pater Matte kom til Sudbury i Canada i 1962 da han ble utnevnt til rektor for University of Sudbury. I anerkjennelse for hva presten hadde gjort for Etiopia donerte Haile Selassie $10,000 til universitetets bygningsfond.
