Aaron Peckham Net Worth and salary: Aaron Peckham is an American computer scientist, programmer and website owner who has a net worth of $100 million dollars. Aaron Peckham is probably best known for being the founder and owner of the internet website Urban Dictionary, a web-based dictionary that contains millions of definitions of slang terminology. Peckham developed Urban Dictionary as a freshman in college at California Polytechnic State University in 1999. One of the site’s first definitions was “the man”, which the site defined as “the faces of the establishment put in place to bring us down”. In 2008, Time Magazine ranked Peckham’s Urban Dictionary as one of the year’s 50 best websites. By April 2009, Urban Dictionary was getting 15 million unique monthly visitors. By 2014, the site was boasting 72 million monthly visitors. Today the site is even larger. As of June 2017, Urban Dictionary is one of the top 500 largest websites on the planet, according to website tracking software Alexa.com. The site is translated into many different languages and is very popular around the world. More than 80% of Urban Dictionary’s traffic comes from visitors younger than the age of 25. Peckham adds approximately 2000 new words to its database every day. Users of Urban Dictionary have taken it upon themselves to define Aaron Peckham on the site he created. These definitions include: “He’s the dude that created this website. Aaron Peckham was a computer science student in 1999 when he launched a Web site to compare urban slang used by university students in different parts of California. Dude, Aaron Peckham is the man.”
