F Lee Bailey Net Worth: F Lee Bailey is an American attorney who has a net worth of $100 thousand dollars. Bailey is best-known for his participation in the 1990s O.J. Simpson “Dream Team”. At one point his personal fortune exceeded $10 million and could have been as much as $20 million. Unfortunately, after a series of personal legal troubles, Bailey was forced to declare bankruptcy in 2016. At the time of that filing he was living with a girlfriend and declared his 1999 Mercedes as his sole asset. Francis Lee Bailey Jr. was born in Waltham, Massachusetts on June 10, 1933. Bailey has built a reputation of being a highly successful criminal defense attorney. This prestige was acquired due to his involvement in high-profile cases such as the Sam Sheppard case and the O.J. Simpson case. Bailey studied at Cardigan Mountain School and Kimball Union Academy. After graduating there with the class of 1950, Bailey went to Harvard College but dropped out in 1952 to join the U.S. Marine Corps from which he was discharged in 1956. His first notorious case was the one of Sam Sheppard who had been charged with murdering his wife Marilyn. This case is thought to be the inspiration for the movie “The Fugitive”. In 1966, Bailey won a re-trial of Sheppard´s case winning a non-guilty verdict. Another notorious lawsuit taken over by Bailey was that of Ernest Medina in 1971 where he defended Medina successfully against charges of involvement in the My Lai Massacre in the Vietnam War. The O.J. Simpson murder trial was already in progress when Bailey joined its defense team just before the preliminary hearing in 1994. Thus, he impeached cross-examination on Detective Fuhrman and helped Simpson to be freed from charges after a trial that lasted more than eight months. The same year, he joined the defending team of an accused marijuana dealer Robert Shapiro in a case called DuBoc. On this trial Bailey, who has been mainly active in the states of Massachusetts and Florida, got disbarred in these two states for misconduct while defending his client. He plead to the Massachusetts disbar in 2005, unsuccessfully. In 2016, Bailey filed for bankruptcy. His only listed asset at the time was a gold 1999 Mercedes station wagon. At the time of the filing, he was living in an apartment above a hair salon in Maine with his girlfriend.
