Elle est capitaine de l’équipe de Madagascar de basket-ball féminin championne d’Afrique en 1970, participe au Championnat du monde de basket-ball féminin 1971 et obtient la médaille d’argent des Jeux africains de 1973.

Devenue par la suite entraîneur, elle a aussi été conseillère technique au Ministère de la Population, de la jeunesse et du sport, membre du conseil d’administration de Tafita, un organe de développement et de promotion du sport, ou encore professeur de danse à l’École nationale des éducations physiques et sportives (ENEPS).

In 2003, McQueen was declared International Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and A Most Excellent Commander of the British Empire by the Queen of England, and won yet another British Designer of the Year honor. Meanwhile, McQueen opened stores in New York, Milan, London, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. But tragedy would soon lace Alexander’s life and things would not end well for him. Starting with the death of English magazine editor Isabella Blow, followed by the death of his mother just two years later, the impact of these events on Alexander’s life would culminate in his own suicide. On February 11, 2010, Lee Alexander McQueen was found by his housekeeper, hanged at his home in London—just nine days after his mother passed away from cancer.
