Paul Anka’s net worth, biography, fact, career, awards and life story

Paul Anka Net Worth: Paul Anka is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actor who has a net worth of $80 million. Known for singing and writing some of the best-known hits in musical history, Paul Anka has carved out an impressive name for himself in the music industry. Early Life: Paul Albert Anka was born on July 30th of 1941 in Ottawa, Canada. Paul Anka was raised in a Lebanese Christian family, and his father owned a restaurant. His mother died when she was just 18 years old. Some of Paul Anka’s earliest experiences with music were through his church. He sang in the St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral choir and studied musical theory through this religious establishment. Outside of his church, he learned how to play the piano. During his time at high school, Paul Anka joined a musical trio called the Bobby Soxers. Career: Even before Anka’s 15th birthday, he was releasing singles. At the age of 14, he traveled to New York City to record his first single, “I Confess.” After auditioning for Don Costa, Anka released “I Confess.” The single would reach the number one spot on the Canadian and US music charts. To this day, “Diana” is one of the best performing singles ever released by a Canadian artist. The success of “Diana” instantly propelled Paul Anka to fame, and he followed up with four singles that all reached the top 20 during 1958. These included “It’s Time To Cry,” and “My Heart Sings.” Paul Anka’s status as a “teen idol” was cemented when he toured the world with Buddy Holly. He then wrote “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” for Holly which would turn out to be the last track he recorded before his passing in 1959. During the next few years, Paul Anka established himself as a songwriter and composer. He collaborated on the theme song for the Johnny Carson Show in 1962 before composing “She’s a Lady” for Tom Jones. He also composed one of Frank Sinatra’s most celebrated tracks, “My Way.” Paul Anka also established a foothold in the film industry during this time, and he wrote theme songs for the same movies he acted in. A notable example was the 1962 war film The Longest Day, for which Anka composed the theme and contributed two of his most well-known hits, “Lonely Boy” and “My Home Town.” He also made a cameo in the film as a US Army Ranger. Paul Anka was also known for his live performances during this period, and he was one of the first well-known musicians to appear in Las Vegas clubs and casinos. Despite signing with RCA Records in 1960, Anka’s career stalled for the next tens years as he failed to create a hit that reached the top of the charts. Paul Anka experienced greater success in the 70s, largely because of his decision to switch to United Artists. “Having My Baby” reached the top of the charts once again, and the track was a collaboration with Odia Coates. Capitalizing on this achievement, Coates and Anka continued to release duets over the next few years, including “I Don’t Like To Sleep Alone” and “There’s Nothing Stronger Than Our Love.” During the next stage of Anka’s career, he continued to hire out his considerable songwriting talents to a number of suitors. This included the camera company Kodak, for which Anka recorded an incredibly successful jingle that eventually became a full-length track. He also wrote another hit for Frank Sinatra called “Anytime.” Anka’s last big hit was in 1983 with “Hold Me ‘Til The Morning Comes,” although he did experience something of a resurgence starting in the 90s. Personal Life: Anka married Anne de Zogheb in 1963 in a ceremony at Paris-Orly Airport. They had five daughters: Amelia, Anthea, Alicia, Amanda (who is now married to actor Jason Bateman) and Alexandra. Anka later married his personal trainer, Anna Aberg, in 2008 and they had a son named Ethan.
